Help Support Organ & Tissue Donation in Canada

In November of 2002, after being hospitalized for several months, Thomas Awad received a liver transplant. A few visits to Metropolitan Hospital in Windsor necessitated a trip to University Hospital in London for additional tests. While there, Tom was admitted to the transplant unit immediately. With his liver barely functioning, dangerous toxins were building up in his bloodstream causing psychosis. Thankfully, after a month’s stay, a liver was found that matched the medical criteria. The successful eight-hour operation took place on November 16, 2002. With prayers from family and friends and the excellent care at University Hospital, Tom’s recovery has been on schedule.
